In 2021, as the world remained shut down, my wife Sarah and I found ourselves questioning the status quo. As believers in Jesus, we felt a deep conviction that the closure of churches during covid was not right. People were hurting and needed support. At the time, we were living in Central Illinois, where I owned a thriving Mattress and Furniture store.

Some friends invited us to join their home church while their usual church remained closed due to Covid restrictions. Though we didn’t attend in person, we were encouraged to watch online services from a church in Burleson, Texas called Opendoor Church, which had remained open. A few weeks later, we decided to sit down and watch one of their services in our living room. To our surprise, we found a church not only deeply committed to Jesus but also passionately involved in rescuing children from trafficking across the globe.

In 2022, after two visits to Opendoor Church, we knew that God was calling us to make Johnson County our home. It was a long journey, but in May of 2023, we took a leap of faith and relocated, trusting that everything would fall into place. God has been faithful in guiding us through the challenging process of starting over. I sold my Mattress and Furniture store in Illinois after nearly a decade of success and embraced the opportunity to enter a completely different industry.
